FOREST SCHOOL

Whatever the weather young children just love to be outdoors, indeed outdoor learning provides children with the potential to learn in a different way- more physical, faster, louder and provide greater independence opportunities.

Forest School at Highgate Day Nursery in Uplands

Forest school is an inspirational process that offers children and the nursery team regular opportunities to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands on learning in the natural environment.

The forest school activities and planning will work alongside our foundation phase activity planning for our rising three year old children up to play scheme children.

At least two organised sessions a week . With planned activities based around the foundation phase and the terms topic plans. At  Uplands the children will use a variety of the outdoor areas, depending on the activity. Between May and September we may increase sessions to three a week. These sessions will be organised during any weather. If weather is very cold, very wet the session may be shorter.
